New title sounds great – but just get it finished!
I second Jenny, shut up and finish it already!! Playing with titles is nothing but procrastination anyway.
of course it is procrastination! very productive sometimes…
Really? When?
when you need a break
My whole life’s a break…
Titles help focus the writing. They’re kind of like terms of reference in reports — they indicate (ideally, at any rate) to writers and readers alike how the fragments, the detours and the hesitations that ultimately constitute any (worthwhile) piece of extended writing might best be put together.
glen, I reckon “Modified: Cars, Culture and Event Mechanics” isperfect. Don’t even think about changing it in the slightest.
Picked your examiners yet?
yeah, got some idea about examiners. I am pushing to use the deleuzian angle as a positive and choose examiners accordingly. That would be the best way, I think.
Depending on what you want to do post-PhD, it may be a good idea to have at least one Deleuze-literate non-Deleuzian examiner, i.e. someone in cultural studies (or v. similar) who is well-known but who is not “marked” purely as a Deleuzian. In other words, think about examiners as potential referees for job apps.
ah. ok. hmmm, that two or three I have in mind would fit the bill then.
