Here is the original image on Flickr of a presentation by Christian Fuchs at The Internet as Playground and Factory conference.
I wonder where Christian is on McKenzie Wark‘s diagram of what Jodi Dean called his Grand Unified Theory.
Wark’s diagram represents social classes/subjectivities not in relation to the means of production, but in relation to the labour of capitalising on opportunity.
Where do you put yourself, Glen?
Somewhere down the bottom!
That second Wark one is pretty much a map of white, middle class Australian boys. Nobody else is in there… and yet, it’s pretending we’re all there… right?
lol! tell him DP!
I think you are right. Can you come up with one that is inclusive (and organised around the numediaz)?
If I knew Wark I’d tell him, but I don’t. And, to be honest, as many a feminist has said before me, I’m not his mum, so I can’t be arsed explaining why he’s failing to be Femnistah. That’s his job – to find out. And to Pay Attention.
Hmf. Maybe. Let me look.
Numediaz? I only speak intertubes and pre-1950s music these days (the two are one in my mind, pleasingly), so I’m not sure how helpful I’d be. Also, I am suspecting that confining it to numediaz is going to mark some pretty clear gender lines as it is….
Also, fuck, I’d have to look up the original drawing and figure out what it means. And, you know, I am only using my Low Brain til the Exchange Season is over, and I can stop thinking quite so much about dancing and DJing.
AND I JUST SAW WHAT YOU DID THERE, REFRAMING MY NARKY POINT WITH SOME GOOD-TEACHING POSITIVE VIBING. I’m on to you, Fuller.
